Apricity is to bask in the warmth of the sun while experiencing the sensational chills of winter. The piece reflects the contrast between the warmth, which is represented by rich and full homorhythmic chords, and the winter chills, which are represented by seemingly inevitable oscillations. Throughout the work, the relationship between the warmth and the chills pans in and out of control. The piece opens in a relatively calm state of being, where the warmth and the chills are almost equally dominant, and then the piece suddenly shifts into an ever-blooming conflict between them. By the end of the work, it is not clear whether the warmth or the chills permeate each other, however, they perhaps begin to accept that they must coexist within the natural order.
